Joerg Windisch Ph.D., of Sandoz International to deliver Keynote Address: The Follow-on Biologics Landscape: A Pioneer's Perspective on the Future at Global Follow-On Biologics Conference November 17-18, 2008 in Bethesda, MD.
Currently holding the position of Head of Global Development Biopharmaceuticals at Sandoz International, Dr. Windisch is a leader in global development of biosimilars at Sandoz. He was a key player in the development of Sandoz' trailblazer biosimilar Omnitrope™ (Somatropin), a recombinant human growth hormone product licensed in the US, Europe and multiple other countries around world and indicated, amongst others, for long-term treatment of pediatric patients who have growth failure due to an inadequate secretion of endogenous growth hormone. He was also deeply involved in the EMEA filing and approval of Sandoz' Epoetin alfa (Binocrit™) a man-made, injectable drug for treating anemia.
Joerg Windisch has his degree in biochemistry at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. He has numerous patents and patent applications, ,most of which are in the name of Sandoz. His work has been featured in numerous publication. He has 12 years of experience in the field of biosimilars.
In his presentation, The Follow-on Biologics Landscape: A Pioneer's Perspective on the Future, Dr. Windisch will discuss how Sandoz is shaping the scientific concepts and development strategies that will pave the way to the registration and commercialization of a follow-on biologic in many countries based on a single, global development program. Follow-on versions of additional product classes are also moving rapidly through development pipelines. These trends will enhance access to high quality biological medicines around the world - and spur further innovation on all sides.
